Healthy Living Doesn't have to be ALL IN or forget it!

Too often, individuals are under the assumption that to be healthy, one must empty their pantry, count their calories for every meal, buy all organic, and eat salads at restaurants. Friends, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Getting healthy is a journey. It’s NOT a destination. It’s a slow process; a journey that I’m still working on for myself.

Being healthy is a one-day-at-a-time experience. Each day you have the choice to make better or different decisions than the day before. My health journey started in 2015, and I’m still working on it. Now that I have my school certification under my belt of holistic armor, I am able to find balance in what I eat, and in my daily behaviors. I don’t have all the answers. I don’t proclaim to be the know all of healthy living. What I do have is passion and determination. My will to live healthy is stronger than it’s ever been. My desire for prevention against disease is large and in charge!

Thanks to the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, over time, I’ve adapted the 90/10 rule. This guideline is simple for me now. You see, 90% of the time, I work hard at eating real and whole foods. I avoid added sugar, and strive for eating lots of fruits and vegetables. 90% of the time, I avoid processed foods. And 10% of the time, I eat WHATEVER I want! Sometimes I have cravings. Sometimes I’m at a party and there are no healthy choices. Through loads and loads of trial and error, I’m learning balance. And you know what? My body has resilience. My body is working hard to keep me healthy. I’m proud of it. It’s an incredible and complicated machine that I’ve learned to nourish and respect.

A famous comedian, Talia Reese, said it best… “Your most of the time, is what matters most”. I love this! I say this to myself daily.

Love your body. Love your health. Make a small shift today. Vow to yourself that you will take the reigns on your OWN health. YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF HOW YOU FEEL; on the inside and the outside. You are responsible for your health. No one else can do that for you and there’s not enough pills in Western Medicine that can either. I’m here to help you. I want to guide you on the journey to a healthy body. Whether it’s for weight loss, stress management, to heal or to just feel better; I’m here to guide you.
